Appreciate its grandiose dimensions and consider the majestic columns, elegant arches and windows that create the illusion of the entire structure floating in the air. You will also decipher ancient mosaics and hear how Hagia Sophia has become a mosque again in modern times and how the locals reacted to this.
Topkapi is a huge palace complex, which was the main residence of the Turkish padishahs until the middle of the 19th century. You will walk through its luxurious halls and examine the jewelry of the sultans and their wives, gold-plated wooden thrones, silver cutlery and a magnificent collection of porcelain. And I will tell you interesting stories about the ruling dynasty and help you imagine how the lords and their harems lived.
